In 1886, a mysterious traveling circus becomes an international sensation. Open only at night, constructed entirely in black and white, Le Cirque des Rêves delights all who wander its circular paths and warm themselves at its bonfire.

Although there are acrobats, fortune-tellers and contortionists, the Circus of Dreams is no conventional spectacle. Some tents contain clouds, some ice. The circus seems almost to cast a spell over its aficionados, who call themselves the rêveurs - the dreamers. At the heart of the story is the tangled relationship between two young magicians, Celia, the enchanter's daughter, and Marco, the sorcerer's apprentice. At the behest of their shadowy masters, they find themselves locked in a deadly contest, forced to test the very limits of the imagination, and of their love...

My Thoughts
This book was recommend to me by many of my booktube friends, all because they loved it and one can only resist for so long. But after reading it I'm happy that I didn't wait any longer: this is definitely a must-read for everybody who likes fantasy, combined with mystery and a little romance. The story starts of with two magicians and their "offspring" starting a mysterious competition, which no-one but the magicians know the details of. Other story lines are that of the original creators of the Night Circus, a young boy living near Boston who is obsessed by it and a you-character that tells the reader how it feel to visit the Night Circus for the first time. In the end these plot lines come together for an somewhat disappointing finale.

I absolutely enjoyed this book and its characters. The things I liked are the usual things, which are hard to put into words. The main thing I didn't like (see the previous paragraph) is the ending. Morgenstern was plotting for an intense finale all throughout the book and my needs for it were not fully met. Don't get me wrong, the finale was good, just not great. Unfortunately I can't discuss the details here, but if you have read the book you probably now what I'm talking about. But every other event that occurred in this book all add up to a fantastic read.
